I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I love travel candles! Well technically I love candles in general, but when you’re on the road as much as I am, travel candles are a great way to take a piece of home with you. Even more important than my love of candles, is my love of Brooklyn. It’s where I was born and raised, and even if my jetsetting takes me from Bermuda to Burma, Brooklyn is always where I call home. So naturally I was intrigued when I stumbled across a new candle company appropriately called LIT Brooklyn.
Homage to the greatest borough ever aside, what initially drew me to the candles were their simplistic names like 1989, Home and Beau, which were quite the opposite of the gritty streets of the company’s namesake. And then…I smelled them. The names totally match their fragrances.
1989 (which happens to be the year the creator, Denequa Williams was born) is a sweet and earthy mix of almond and patchouli (totally her personality).
Home to me smells like grandma’s kitchen with a lemon sugar and vanilla scent that fills the air.
Beau smells like a significant other you can’t wait to embrace with notes of sandalwood, leather, and tobacco.
However, one of my favorite LIT Brooklyn candles is called Hu$tle. This collab between LIT and Glam-Aholic Mia Ray is an intoxicating bold floral scent with just a hint of sweetness. It’s typically sold out so if you ever see it up for sale, don’t hesitate!
Even better than their smells, however, is the love and dedication infused into each candle. Every single LIT candle is created with 100% natural soy wax and is hand poured, packaged and shipped from Brooklyn by Denequa herself.
Trust me, once you get your hands on these you will become obsessed (I’m so in love I have the full sizes too, lol). They will become a must on your travels and even make great gifts for the jetsetters in your life. My suggestion is to grab a few of the travel candle sets so you’ll have a stash for every occasion…or country.
Oh, and remember…keep it LIT!
