It’s the most wonderful time of the year. A season of reflections, blessings, giving and if you’re a little spoiled like me…receiving! As jetsetters we can never get enough of gifts that make our travel lives more exciting, that’s why I took a cue from Queen Mother Oprah, and curated this collection of my absolute favorite travel things, and a few goodies I’ll be putting on my own wish list this year!
The Tile App – $25
As far as gadgets go, I have to say that this was hands down my favorite product of the year. Tile is a tiny Bluetooth tracker that helps find your lost stuff in seconds. Attach, stick, or place Tiles inside everyday items and keep track of them in the easy-to-use app. I love to stick a Tile in my luggage when I travel to make sure my bags make the plane or to avoid the baggage claim struggle life by always knowing when my bags are heading my way.
Social Print Studio Gift Card – $20-$100
You’d be hard pressed to find someone in this digital age that actually prints out pictures anymore. However, Social Print Studio combines the best of both worlds and makes printing photos fun again. You can take your favorite Instagram, Facebook and point and shoot pics, and print them on stickers, mini calendars, magnets, photostrips and more. I’ve trusted Social Print Studio to hold some of my most amazing travel memories, and hopefully you’ll trust them with your memories too!
Black & Abroad Shirts – $25-$35
Despite having been to 77 countries, and being surrounded by friends and family that love to explore the world as much as I do, it still amazes me that it amazes others to see Black people traveling the world. Enter Black & Abroad. Black & Abroad is a cultural collective dedicated to redefining world experiences for the modern Black traveler. Their Instagram community is full beautiful pictures of Black travelers proud to show the world that seeing them around is no longer an anomaly, but the norm. Join us!
Airportag Travel Pouch – $20-$30
Travel isn’t just a luxury, it’s a lifestyle. So why not keep reminders of how much you love seeing the world around you everyday? Airportag is a fun new company designed specifically for the travel clique. This pouch is one of many designed to keep all your TSA friendly items in one place. But that’s not all they have to offer, head over to their site to find pillows, throws, cell phone cases, bags, prints and more, all dedicated to your favorite cities, airports, passports and travel quotes.
Like most people, I love to snuggle under a cozy blanket during long haul flights. However, let’s face it, airplane blankets are kind of scary and gross. That’s why the savior of my sanity and comfort has been the Flight 001 travel blanket. It’s lightweight and easy to carry in the little matching pouch, and since it belongs to you and only you, you don’t have to spend the flight worried about all those pesky germs.
Being on the road often causes twinges of homesickness. I love to carry travel candles with me on vacations to give my hotel or Airbnb a touch of home. Harlem Candle Company is my go to for luxury candles and the scents are so heavenly that you’ll want to envelop yourself in their soothing fragrance even when you’re at home.
When you’re rocking with #teamcarryon packing cubes are your bestfriend, however, most packing cubes are a bit dry in the stylish department. If you’re someone who likes to add a little bit of flair to their travel luggage, then these packing cubes from Hudson + Bleecker are right up your alley. They do the job of normal packing cubes, but they are way more jazzy and snazzy! There are even matching shoe and garment bags! *swoon*
Mophie Powerstation – $40-$150
You would think that as a frequent traveler I would know to always back a backup battery…wrong! With the introduction of Periscope, I learned the hard way what life is like when you’re in the deserts of Namibia broadcasting your adventure and then, your battery dies. And you have no way to charge it for hours until you get back to your room. The. Horror. Fortunately the amazing folks at Mophie were smart enough to create the Powerstation. This sleek and ultra light external battery can fully charge phones, wearables and even tablets up to 8 times, depending on the model. Not only does the Powerstation pack a ton of batter power, but the Bluetooth connection allows your Powerstation to manage and monitor your battery power, and you can also charge up to two devices at once, which if you’re like me and carry multiple gadgets, is a lifesaver. I don’t know about you, but I’m asking Santa and his elves for a Powerstation 5X this year.
Forestbound ESCAPE Traveler – $250
The ESCAPE Traveler has the same great look as Forestbound’s classic and uber popular ESCAPE Canvas Utility Bag but is a bit roomier, more structured, and now features an adjustable, removable shoulder strap. Every time I see this bag I just want to pick up and GO! That’s why it’s a top item on my personal holiday wish list.
Nothing ruins a flight faster than noisy passengers, chatty seatmates or screaming babies, especially on a long haul. You can block that and zone all the way out with these noise cancelling headphones from Bose. They block out sound so well that I’m convinced the designer is a fellow traveler who totally gets the struggle. A little pricey, but definitely worth the investment.
GoPro Hero4 Black – $500
There’s GoPro and then there’s GoPro Hero4 Black. Just like there are levels to travel, there are levels to arguably the most popular action camera ever. GoPro Hero4 Black is the top of the line in the GoPro series and makes sure that you can capture your adventures in 4K Ultra HD video and liquid-smooth slow motion at up to 240 frames per second. Thankfully Santa came early and now I have a GoPro of my own to try out on my next getaway…score!
Hi, my name is Danielle and I love uber luxurious, bougie travel things, and the Smythson Marshall Travel Wallet is at the top of my holiday wishlist. The Marshall Travel Wallet is luxury with a purpose and will help keep you stylish, while making sure all your important docs and money are organized and secure. Whenever I see this wallet in my favorite color, Poinsettia red, it conjures dreams of me pulling it out to remove colorful Baht on the streets of Bangkok as I buy a bowl of mango and sticky rice. Heaven.
What’s on your travel wishlist?
